COLOR CHARTS

My oldest son and I really got into an artistic zone during quarantine. Hands-down it was one of the highlights amongst such a drab and scary time. I’ve loved trying to keep it up but have mostly been challenged by how long it takes to set up and clean up, and the space it requires. And then one day I broke out the paints at my desk and started making color charts … and didn’t stop. For days. My desk was a mess and I can’t say it’s a good idea to have paint, water and supplies around a computer and camera gear. But somehow it’s working (most) of the time. I’ve found that it’s such a meditative, calming activity. I used to think I needed to carve out a lot of time but now I realize I can paint when I have just a few minutes as long as I have everything easily accessible. So now I’m working on how an organized neat freak who doesn’t like clutter can keep a small space meant for cameras and computers as clean and organized for painting on-the-fly … while a toddler looms. Here’s some of my charts.

“The colors of Joshua Tree.”

I’m just starting to make greys with primary colors … endless opportunities.

Jelly paint from China.

Be still my heart … that mix of magenta and opera. I die.

I used to walk right past this brand of paint but what I’ve been looking for this whole time was a vibrant paint without brush strokes. Excited to play around with this brand some more. LeFranc Bourgeois Flashe vinyl paint
