When Teddy joined our family 12 years ago, I never could’ve imagined that I’d also become family with people I might not ever know otherwise. The relationships with humans at the barn has been a beautiful life experience. We’re like roommates who see each other at our second home every day. But most of us could not be more different from each other. We spend holidays together, celebrate the birth of each other’s babies, step up when we break bones and fight cancer, mourn the loss of loved ones, hold space for each other when our equine babies are sick or injured. Ana and Prince are family to me, I look forward to seeing them both every day. They came together out of tragedy but are building their own beautiful life together. Prince was Ana’s mom’s horse. And when she died of cancer, Ana couldn’t let Prince go anywhere other than home with her. He moved across the country and together they mourned their loss. But built something beautiful together.
